Puntarelle Catalogna Chicory⁠

The center shoots of Catalogna chicory are actually young flower stems, referred to as puntarelle. Puntarelle makes a delicious salad, but they are also great braised, roasted, and sautéed.⁠

In Rome, the traditional dish is a salad: Puntarelle julienned, shocked in ice water until the strips curl up, drained, and dressed with an anchovy vinaigrette. Puntarelle is crisp, crunchy, slightly sweet, and has just a little bit of chicory bitterness — it’s quite mild.⁠

Francisco has been a driver for 14 years and plays a key role in our Farmers’ Market program, representing FreshPoint at local markets every week. During COVID, he went above and beyond as our sole farmers market driver, handling every pickup and delivery.

Known for his joyful attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail, Francisco loves connecting with local farmers and building lasting relationships. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, the beach, and being a proud dad to three amazing daughters.
