DALLAS, Aug. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sysco Corporation (SYY) today announced it will host a groundbreaking ceremony for government officials, associates and other members of the community at its FreshPoint Dallas facility on August 6, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. CT. FreshPoint, Sysco’s specialty produce company, is North America’s leading produce distributor.
FreshPoint Dallas to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony
Upon completion, the expansion will create approximately 80 new jobs for the FreshPoint Dallas operation.
The project will include an addition of 65,000 square feet to the existing 125,000-square-foot building at 4721 Simonton Road. A number of sustainability initiatives are included in the project, including two Eco-Safe Digesters for tomato waste and LED lighting. The facility will have a FreshCuts processing and production room for fresh cut produce, and a Reyco system that takes waste (core, seeds, skin, etc.) and grinds it for compost, saving fuel and energy and reducing the Company’s carbon footprint.
