Roscoe Zuckerman is a third-generation asparagus farmer. His land is smack-dab in the middle of the California Delta, inland from San Francisco. The soil in the Delta is all peat and peaty alluvium—the result of rivers and streams bringing topsoil from the mountains down to the Delta for eons—and it’s considered the richest, most productive soil in California.

Roscoe harvests especially for us, cutting to our order, so every carton arrives at our dock very fresh.

Did you know we have a whole website dedicated JUST to our local farmers?

It's Wallpaper Wednesday...and this year we are talking about local produce!

Although the winters are cold in Western Pennsylvania, the region benefits from the other three seasons that offer beautiful and pleasant weather for growing produce.

Hydroponic basil is one of the first spring items to appear. As we head into mid-May, the brief season of local asparagus starts to emerge, coupled with Ramps (Wild Leeks) and strawberries.

In early June, Heirloom and cluster tomatoes start to make their way to the market, followed by herbs, kale, and collard greens in mid-June. As June wraps, zucchini and yellow squash are ready to harvest, and then seemingly overnight, become overabundant!
